There’s nothing better to do on a hot summer night than listening to some great live music. Whether you like solo performances, local bands or national acts the Great Outdoors region has it all in August. Here’s the hot lineup.
Samantha Sears will be playing her special blend of eclectic acoustic rock at Trail’s End Restaurant on August 1st from 5-8 p.m., at Allegheny Grille on August 8th from 6-9 p.m., at Gateway Lodge’s Campfire Music Nights on August 11th from 7-8 p.m. & 8:30-10 p.m., at Deer Creek Winery on August 12th from 2-5 p.m., and at Tionesta Market Village Music at the Market August 18th at 6 p.m.
The Mayfields also known as the Bluegrass Sweethearts have been performing bluegrass favorites for over 35 years. Catch them live on August 1st from 6-9 p.m. at the Allegheny Grille. And on August 25th from 7-8 p.m. & 8:30-10 p.m. at Gateway Lodge’s Campfire Music Nights.
Annie Morgan is an acoustic singer, songwriter, and piano player of the country and gospel genres. She’s playing on August 3rd from 6-7:30 p.m. at Music in the Park at Barclay Square. Then from 7:30-9 p.m. B n’ B Acoustic Blend will be providing a perfect blend of classic & contemporary light rock mixed with just a bit of country.
3 Drinks Later is the music trio of Kurt Thomas (guitar-vocals), John Rutherford (bass guitar-vocals), Jim Florio (drums and witty anecdotes) playing hits from all of recent history…recent being the last 100 years. See them on August 4th at The Lakeview Lodge.
Gary Bickerstaff brings you all your classic rock acoustic top favorite hits at Iron Mountain Grille on August 4th from 6:30-9:30 p.m., at Trails End Restaurant on August 8th from 5-8 p.m. & August 20th from 3-6 p.m., and at Deer Creek Winery on August 19th from 2-5 p.m.
Mike Leslie performs bluegrass and you’re sure to have a finger snappin’, toe tappin’ good time when you hear him on August 4th from 7-8 p.m. & 8:30-10 p.m. at Gateway Lodge’s Campfire Music Nights.

Kurt Thomas is a fabulous one-man band who plays electric and acoustic guitar and sings, using a backing of tracks that he’s created to achieve a full band sound. Styles of music he plays are vast from the great pop songs of the 60’s and into the 80’s, songs that people love, that bring back memories of their past, but that we aren’t used to hearing people play like Marvin Gaye, Earth Wind & Fire, Crosby Stills & Nash, The Beatles, Chicago, and hundreds more. Great guitar work, including the blues of Stevie Ray Vaughan, B.B. King and other masters. He’s playing at Foxburg Wine Cellars on August 5th from 2-5 p.m., then over to Medix Run Rendezvous on August 6th in the afternoon, at Scottish Heights Golf Course on August 12th and 26th from 7-10 p.m., and at Medix Hotel on August 19th in the afternoon.
Bryan Phillips will be playing all your favorite classic country hits on August 5th from 2-5 p.m. & August 25th from 7-10 p.m. at Deer Creek Winery and on August 26th from 7-10 p.m. at Iron Mountain Grille.
Dave (of Windy River Band) + 1 plays all types of music from country, to oldies to classic rock that you can dance to and have a blast! If you like to dance —- you’ll love them! They’re playing on August 5th from 2-5 p.m. at R** Bandana Winery.
Trixx band plays all your favorite classic rock hits from the 70’s and 80’s including Journey, Styx, Bryan Adams and so much more. These guys have been together for a long time and it shows. They are playing on August 5th from 6:30-10 p.m. at St. Leo’s Summer Festival.
Byson Band is a duo with acoustic guitar, electric guitar and occasionally becoming a trio with upright bass. They play covers with a fresh new spin along with their own original selections. You don’t want to miss them on August 5th from 7-10 p.m. at Deer Creek Winery.
Comer Gardner Guitar Duo will be playing some country, classic rock and more on August 5th from 7-10 p.m. at the Iron Mountain Grille.
If you like bluesy rock and just plain fun, then you have to come see the Renegade Roosters on August 5th from 7:30-10:30 p.m. at R** Bandana Winery.
Sofa King Cool Band plays classic rock so well you can almost feel your hair growing! Awesome and absolutely amazing. Classic rock, blues rock, southern rock, dance rock, if it’s rock then they play it, and they’re playing it at Ray’s Hot Spot on August 5th starting at 9:45 p.m.
Hear all your favorite Elvis songs by impersonator Bobby Calla on August 6th from 1-3 p.m. at St. Leo’s Summer Festival.
Robyn Young performs hits from Miranda, Patsy, and Cash to Skynyrd, Creed and Staind; Pop, blues, country and rock with a unique twist. She is also a songwriter, so you will hear some of her originals as well. Robyn pours her heart out in every song while playing guitar and harmonica. You will surely hear one of your favorite tunes. She’s playing on August 6th from 2-5 p.m. at Deer Creek Winery, August 12th from 7:30-10:30 p.m. at R** Bandana Winery, and August 13th from 3-6 p.m. at Trails End Restaurant.
JB Unplugged is a singer/songwriter performing for over 25 years, playing the music you love from today’s new pop and country, to old classics with a catalog of over 500 songs and all genres of music. He’s playing on August 6th from 3-6 p.m. and August 22nd from 5-8 p.m. at Trails End Restaurant.
Four real brothers and a wife make up the most unique music act you will ever see. The Moore Brothers sing doo-wop, 50’s, 60’s, classic rock, hits of the country legends, as well as today’s best country artists. But that’s not all. Want to hear Johnny Cash and June Carter or Loretta Lynn and Conway Twitty? How about guys that can play hard rockin’ double lead guitars then pick up the fiddle and do great foot-stompin’ country. Heather Olson will sing all your favorite Patsy Cline songs at Music in the Taylor Memorial Park on August 6th from 6-7:30 p.m.
Gashouse Annie has opened for many national acts including Willie Nelson, Loretta Lynn, Toby Keith and many more. With a mix of blues, country, bluegrass and even some gospel thrown in for good measure this is a show you have to see on August 6th from 2-5 p.m. at Foxburg Wine Cellars.
Slim Forsythe plays all your country favorites on August 10th from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Music in the Park at Barclay Square.
The Kentucky Headhunters are a Grammy winning nationally acclaimed honky tonk, blues, and Southern rock band. You’re sure to enjoy their hits Dumas Walker, Oh, Lonesome Me, Only Daddy That’ll Walk the Line and many more. They will be live at the Elk County Fair on August 10th at 7 p.m.
No matter what era you’re from, the classic rockin’ duo Wheels & Heels (Dick and Joanie from the band Trixx) will probably know one of your favorite songs. They are playing on August 11th from 6-9 p.m. at Iron Mountain Grille and on August 26th from 2-5 p.m. at Deer Creek Winery
Brandon Giuffre has a blend of great acoustic songs accompanied with fantastic vocals. He’s playing on August 11th at The Lakeview Lodge.
21 local hard rock and heavy metal bands are playing and donating their time to stamp out cancer so get your rock on for a great cause, the American Cancer Society Relay for Life on August 11th & 12th at Rocking for a Cure 4.
Coyote Moon duo appeals to any audience with their varied song list and rich sound with sweet harmonies. Together they offer up a blend of folk, folk rock, classic rock, and some early country playing favorites from the Beatles, to Adele to Johnny Cash and a lot of Neil Young. They’re playing at the Louisiana Style Crab Boil at Winery at Wilcox on August 11th at 4 p.m.
Cooley & Strausser are an acoustic duo, performing covers from the 60’s to hits of today. See them on August 11th from 7:30-10:30 p.m. at R** Bandana Winery.
Soundbite covers material that doesn’t always necessarily get played by the majority of bands out there. Check them out at Ray’s Hot Spot on August 11th starting at 9:45 p.m., wear your 80’s band shirt and hear some of the classic rock tunes that you haven’t heard in a long time.
The Diamond Project are performing a musical tribute to Neil Diamond on August 12th at 1:30 & 3 p.m. at Family Day in Brockway.
Don Schiebel does some fantastic work on his beautiful 12-string Guild with a voice and a selection of music that will stir so many old memories. Catch his show at Foxburg Wine Cellars on August 12th from 2-5 p.m.
Paul Shimmel plays acoustic original country tunes and some covers. See him live at the Medix Hotel’s ATV Jamboree on August 12th in the afternoon.
On the Spectrum is an acoustic duo who plays a variety of classic rock, pop, easy listening and even some country tunes with Rachael Mellor on vocals and Gary Bickerstaff on guitar and vocals. They are playing at 2 p.m. on August 12th at Tionesta Market Village Music at the Market.
Darkwater Duo has a modern take on acoustic music by focusing on their harmonies, guitar work, and complex foot samples. Check them out at the Louisiana Style Crab Boil at Winery at Wilcox on August 12th at 4 p.m.
Johnny Angel & the Halos will perform 50’s & 60’s songs on August 12th at 6 & 7:30 p.m. at Family Day in Brockway.
Major Morgan‘s music is a combination of many different genres including Americana, folk, bluegrass, and classic rock. They’re playing at Deer Creek Winery on August 12th from 7-10 p.m.
The 2 of Us are an acoustic rock duo playing all your favorites from days gone by on August 12th at 7 p.m. at Laurel Mountain Vineyard’s Sunset at the Winery.
Two For Flinching combines some of the most talented musicians in the area with an entertaining stage performance and a spectacular sound and lighting show. The quartet switches effortlessly between smooth funk, hard rock and groovin’ dance rhythms, while providing sweet vocal harmonies, dazzling technical musicianship and a dose of humor. Hear your classic rock favorites with Mid Life Crisis on August 13th from 1-3 p.m. at Music in the Park at Barclay Square.
Singer-songwriter Coston Cross continuously uses all his life experiences and the influences of Garth Brooks, George Strait, George Jones and believe it or not Guns ‘n Roses to shape his own style of new country music. He is a must see on August 13th from 2-5 p.m. at Deer Creek Winery and August 18th from 7-8 p.m. & 8:30-10 p.m. at Gateway Lodge’s Campfire Music Nights.
Max Schang on guitar and Charlie Barath on harmonica play a collection of well-known blues tunes performed with a sense of fun and an original approach…and, as always a crowd-stompin’ good time so get your stomp on at Foxburg Wine Cellars on August 13th from 2-5 p.m.
John Burgh and his Big Band Orchestra will be performing old style swing, to jazz standards, rhythm and blues, pop and rock that’s sure to get ALL ages up and dancing at RiverStone Farm on August 13th at 6 p.m.
Spirit Wing plays authentic Native American music and have been a finalist for the Native American Music Awards six times. They will perform at the Tionesta Indian Festival on August 15th for two shows followed by An Evening with Elvis impersonator Jim Felix and again on August 19th at 3 p.m.
Bad Hat Daddy O’s are a classic rock duo playing all of your favorites from the Eagles to Rod Stewart to Tom Petty and more. They’re playing on August 15th from 5-8 p.m. at Trails End Restaurant.
Hanna, Williamson & Shick are an acoustic trio playing soft rock and country originals and covers. See them at the Allegheny Grille on August 15th from 6-9 p.m.
Thorn Haven Band are a rock, rockin’ country and bluegrass band performing original material as well as cover tunes. They will be live on August 16th at the Tionesta Indian Festival.
The Wrangler Band perform a variety of music from country with a kick to classic rock, not to mention their own original material. They are playing on August 16th at 7 p.m. at Knox Horsethief Days and on August 19th at Elk Expo.

The Cubs are a 3 piece band (Richard Pierce, Jeff Corbett and Frank Agnello) playing classic rock from the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s on August 18th at Knox Horsethief Days.
Go For Broke is a five piece classic rock and heavy metal cover band. They’re playing at 6 p.m. on August 18th at the St. Marys Wing Fling.
In reminiscence of the old minstrel shows of the early 1900’s you will see a unique collection of songs, jokes and skits sure to provide fun and laughter to all at the Marienville Minstrel Show at 7 p.m. on August 18th at the Tionesta Methodist Church.
If you love Bluegrass music check out the Summerville Fireman’s Annual Bluegrass Festival for a foot stompin’ good time with an enclosed stage, shelters, a food stand and camping spots available on August 18th & 19th starting at 7 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. Saturday.

Richard Eustice will be playing rock n’ roll favorites with some friends on August 19th from 2-5 p.m. at Foxburg Wine Cellars and on August 22nd from 6-9 p.m. at Allegheny Grille he will be performing solo.
“Emlenton’s American Idol” Isaac Cole made it to the 51st spot on American Idol. He is an awesome country singer with original works as well as playing yesterday and today’s country music. He has a record deal in the works and he’s ONLY 16 years old. He will perform at Knox Horsethief Days on August 19th at 5 p.m.
The Necessary Experience is a fun, funky rock and roll band playing top hits from The Beatles, Steve Miller, Marvin Gaye, Led Zeppelin, Bob Marley, Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd and Motown. In essence, they’re Funky People Playin’ Funky Tunes!!! They will play on August 19th from 6-10 p.m. at Tionesta Indian Festival.
2B40 is a band of 40-somethings playing a combination of original songs and some of their favorite cover tunes. They’re playing at Deer Creek Winery on August 19th from 7-10 p.m.
If you like today’s new country music, then you’ll love East Creek Road Band when they play at the Iron Mountain Grille on August 19th from 7-10 p.m.
White Cat Out is a premier classic rock and new rock cover band. Covering artists such as BTO, Huey, Ozzy, Counting Crows, The Clarks and tons more with plenty of cover material for all audiences plus added originals. They’re playing at R** Bandana Winery on August 19th from 7:30-10:30 p.m.
Spanning four decades, The Ozone Rangers are a classic rock, country, and ZZ Top tribute band. Relying on a groove of bluesy bass and drum rhythms sprinkled with some tasty Southern licks, the Ozone recipe has stood the test of time like a bottle of Jack Daniels on a woodshed shelf. Wear your cheap sunglasses and see them live at Ray’s Hot Spot on August 19th starting at 9:45 p.m.
Bill Thompson will be playing your acoustic rock and country favorites on August 20th in the afternoon on the deck at the Medix Hotel.
J. D. Eicher is a singer songwriter whose new album (The Middle Distance) came out last summer. Infused with rock, pop and indie influences you don’t want to miss his performance at Foxburg Wine Cellars on August 20th from 2-5 p.m.
Against the Grain is a western PA rock band playing everything from classic rock to alternative to today’s hits including interesting versions of fan-favorite songs that span hard rock classics from AC/DC and Led Zeppelin to Grunge-Alternative bands such as the Foo Fighters and Reliant K. They will be playing on August 20th at Elk Expo.
If you need jazz, standards and swing tunes in your life then Jazz Lite is the band that you need to see on August 25th from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at the Iron Mountain Grille.
Root2Fifth is an acoustic music duo that plays classic, timeless country and rock tunes. They will be at DuBois Harley Davidson’s Bike Night & Car Cruise-In on August 25th from 6-8 p.m. and at Medix Hotel on August 27th in the afternoon.
Billy and Casey Smith are two brothers on acoustic guitar/cajon playing a variety of music on August 25th at The Lakeview Lodge.
CareyOn is a three-piece band that plays a little something for everyone including top 40, country, R&B, jazz, oldies, rock, metal, dance and rave music. They’re playing on August 25th from 7:30-10:30 p.m. at R** Bandana Winery.
If you like folky rock you are going to like James Willaman. He’s playing at Foxburg Wine Cellars on August 26th from 2-5 p.m.
The newly formed band ArCaDe will give it up at R** Bandana Winery on August 26th from 7:30-10:30 p.m.
Free spirited playing paired with a raw, soulful voice and elevated through the use of percussive and vocal looping, Scott & Rosanna have pure electric energy together. Rock Jazz Band will be playing…you guessed it rock and jazz numbers on August 27th from 2-5 p.m. at Deer Creek Winery.
The Ryver Nymphs are an acoustic duo that plays country and folk favorites. They will be dishing up your favorites at Allegheny Grille on August 29th from 6-9 p.m.
The region also has some terrific monthly meet ups to showcase your talent as well.
The Forest County Country Music Association has a bluegrass and country music jam session to set your toes a tappin’ and your fingers snappin’. You are even welcome to join in if you like. It happens the 2nd Friday each month at the MACA building on Pine Street in Marienville and the 3rd Friday each month at the Forest Folk School in Tionesta.
If you love American folk music; singing, playing guitar, banjo, ukulele, dulcimer or mandolin meet at Fusion Café on the first Thursday of each month where you’ll play the music of Pete Seeger, Woody Guthrie, Arlo Guthrie, Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Peter Paul & Mary, The Kingston Trio and many, many more of your favorite classic folk tunes from the 1930’s through the 1970’s.

Crazy Jim will be playing all your DJ favorites along with karaoke for the brave at heart at Ray’s Hot Spot on August 4th and 18th. Then on August 25th Take One Productions will be spinning the platters. All will be starting at 9:45 p.m.
On the 3rd Thursday of every month Tom Frech of Dos Hombres will be hosting Medix Hotel’s Got Talent open mic night so get out there, enjoy yourself on the deck with a cold cocktail and let your “soul sing” on.
All musicians, poets, comedians, storytellers, and listeners are invited to Open Mic Night at Fusion Café on the last Thursday of each month. July’s date is July 27th.
